Social INC is an organization responsible for running Socialbook.com. Socialbook.com is a large social networking website; this website is currently working around the world. For World Wide operations Social INC has launched many large servers around the world. Including Video and Audio streaming servers, data bank servers and Image servers. These servers are attached with different physical networks which may have different MTU. These servers exchange data with each other using routers.

To gain new customers, a new functionality names as “Social-Channel” is to be triggered out soon by this website that will allow users to stream the Audio/ video contents to selected recipients in a group”.


In your opinion, what will be the disadvantages (any two) if routers connecting different servers perform the reassembly of datagrams? Also, elaborate with reason that for this “Social-Channel” activity which “Transport protocol” will be more efficient?


(1) since, all the work is being done by your OS, so if there are bugs in your OS, then you will face many problems like problems in surfing and downloading contents from the net.
(2) TCP cannot be used for broadcast and multicast connections.

Applications relevant to Audio and video streaming are considered as time sensitive applications, in these types of applications time sensitivity is most important and delayed packets are not tolerated. These applications (Audio and video streaming) hence cannot tolerate delay and are time sensitive.

According to (me) time sensitivity UDP protocol is more best and does not have any delay.

(1) Broadcast and multicast connections are available with UDP which is not the case with TCP.
(2) It does not restrict you to connection based communication model
(3) Much faster than TCP
